Achievable Qos in an Interference/resource-limited Shared Wireless Channel

چکیده
In this work, the region of achievable QoS-which is central to the development of a call admission control mechanism-is precisely described for a system of heterogeneous VBR sources with real-time service constraints. The QoS for each application is deened in terms of a packet dropping probability. Packets may be dropped due to delay violations and channel induced errors. The shared transmission resources are deened to be the slots (packet transmission times) of a TDMA frame. The region of achievable QoS is precisely described for a interference/resource-limited network by considering the underlying TDMA-MAC structure and the physical channel. A simple DLC protocol that combats the eeects of the wireless channel while satisfying the real-time requirements is proposed and its impact on the region of achievable QoS is evaluated. The results presented here clearly illustrate the negative impact of a poor channel and the positive impact of the employed DLC protocol on the achievable QoS.

Achievable QoS in an interface/resource-limited shared wireless channel
In this work, the region of achievable quality-ofservice (QoS) is precisely described for a system of real-time heterogeneous variable bit rate (VBR) sources competing for slots (packet transmission times) of a time division multiple access (TDMA) frame. The QoS for each application is defined in terms of a maximum tolerable packet-dropping probability. Packets may be dropped due to delay viola...
متن کاملAchievable Secrecy Rate Regions of State Dependent Causal Cognitive Interference Channel
In this paper, the secrecy problem in the state dependent causal cognitive interference channel is studied. The channel state is non-causally known at the cognitive encoder. The message of the cognitive encoder must be kept secret from the primary receiver. We use a coding scheme which is a combination of compress-and-forward strategy with Marton coding, Gel’fand-Pinsker coding and Wyner’s wire...
متن کاملAchievable QoS and Scheduling Policies for Integrated Services Wireless Networks
Networks are expected to support applications with diverse traac characteristics and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, such as voice, data, video and multi-media. In this environment it is important to determine whether a given QoS vector is achievable (for call admission control), and if it is, design eecient resource allocation policies that deliver it. In this paper a system of T resour...
متن کاملOptimal Resource Allocation Policies for a Multiaccess Fading Channel with a Quality of Service Constraint
Future wireless networks will support traffic with diverse quality of service (QoS) requirements. Wireless resources, e.g., the bandwidth and the power at the mobiles, being scarce, it is important to use them judiciously and thus the traditional problem of sharing the resources efficiently among the contending users is important. At the system level, the problem that we address is similar to t...
